German Walker Con returns to Turbinenhalle Oberhausen on August 29 and 30, 2026. The organiser currently lists 15 cast members from The Walking Dead for its second edition. Panels, paid autographs, photo shoots, selfies and meet and greets are also planned. A separate film fair hall will extend the event.
The German newspaper WAZ calls the convention a zombie festival in its current report. That wording suggests a zombie walk, stage entertainment or a walk through horror attraction. The confirmed event is a specialist fan convention. A haunted house, scare zone or staged zombie trail is not part of the programme published so far.
The guest list makes the event interesting for fans of the series. It also gives cosplayers, makeup artists and scare actors a chance to study character impact, costumes and fan interpretations of zombies. No workshop programme covering these subjects has been announced at this stage.
The Second German Walker Con
The first German Walker Con took place at Turbinenhalle Oberhausen on May 31 and June 1, 2025. That edition was already designed as a combination of television convention, autograph and photo fair plus collectors’ event. We Love Conventions explicitly describes the 2026 event as the second edition.
The format remains closely focused on the world of The Walking Dead. Unlike a general horror convention, it does not bring together guests from numerous film franchises. The announced names cover different periods of the main series, starting with its first episode and extending to characters introduced in later seasons.

This list is an announcement from the organiser and does not guarantee that every guest will appear. Convention guests may cancel at short notice because of filming commitments, illness or personal circumstances. The organiser states this explicitly in its terms.
The independent convention directory Roster Con included fourteen of the current fifteen names in its most recent update dated July 17, 2026. Christian Serratos has since been added to the official event website. Visitors should therefore consult the primary source for a final check before travelling.
Guest Encounters Cost Extra
Question and answer sessions on stage are part of the announced programme. Anyone who wants an autograph, professional photo, selfie or meet and greet will need a separate extra ticket. General admission does not automatically include these personal encounters.
The event website requires visitors to bring printed tickets for photo shoots, selfies, autographs and meet and greets. Elsewhere, the FAQ asks for a printed scannable ticket in general. Bringing the admission ticket on paper as well should prevent unnecessary discussions at the entrance.
Prices for extras vary by guest and type of encounter. The organiser may adjust them so the price shown in the ticket shop is the binding figure. Roster Con lists a minimum general admission price of 40 euros. This is not an official price and Eventbrite may add fees or offer different ticket options. The total should be checked during checkout.
If a guest cancels, tickets purchased for that person’s autograph, photo shoot or meet and greet should be refunded automatically. According to the organiser, admission tickets, VIP tickets or upgrades are not eligible for a refund on that basis. This distinction matters for fans travelling primarily to meet one specific person.
No Programme Schedule Yet
The event website announces panels and the various guest encounter formats but does not yet show a schedule. The programme section currently says that details will follow. It remains unclear when each guest will appear on stage, how photo shoots and autograph sessions will be distributed or whether every offer will be available on both days.
The size and exact setup of the film fair hall have not been described either. The official information says that further selected celebrity guests will appear there alongside the Walking Dead cast. Cynthia Rothrock is currently named as a guest in this area. The published details do not indicate whether further names, a separate schedule or special access rules will be added later.
More programme items may follow but none have been confirmed yet. Visitors hoping to combine photo shoots with panels should wait for the detailed schedule before planning their day.

Why the Convention May Interest Scare Actors
Performing in a horror attraction differs from acting in a television series. Scare actors need to make their characters readable during brief encounters, at varying distances and often without extended dialogue. The Walking Dead can still offer useful points of reference for this audience. The series relies heavily on posture, gait, gaze, costume condition and makeup silhouettes.
A fan convention provides an opportunity to see which of these traits cosplayers adopt and which characters remain recognisable from a distance. Addy Miller’s brief appearance as Teddy Bear Girl is a good example of how a clear silhouette and one prop can remain memorable. This does not turn the event into an official class or workshop. It is an editorial perspective on the fan gathering.
The cosplay scene may also be interesting for makeup artists. A look designed to read from a stage has different requirements from one intended for a detailed close up. Photo shoots and fan costumes make these differences visible even though the convention has not announced any practical makeup demonstrations.
A Zombie Festival Without a Confirmed Zombie Attraction
The label zombie festival works as an attention grabbing headline but may create false expectations. According to the official information, German Walker Con is primarily centred on conversations, autograph sessions, photos, personal meetings and collectors’ items.
There is currently no confirmation of an immersive apocalypse, live scare performers or a walk through course. A zombie walk is not mentioned either. Costumed fans are likely at this type of convention but their expected presence is not the same as a confirmed cosplay or performance programme.
This distinction is particularly important for our audience. The event may be professionally relevant and worthwhile as a meeting place without being a scare attraction itself.
German Walker Con Meets a Film Fair
The additional film fair hall broadens the gathering beyond The Walking Dead. Film fairs generally focus on physical media, collectables, posters, figures and merchandise. The organisers have not yet published which dealers or product ranges will be represented in Oberhausen.
Cynthia Rothrock, the only guest named for this section so far, is associated with action and martial arts films rather than the Walking Dead universe. Her announcement shows that the second hall is intended as a separate supplementary area. Visitors should check the final ticket description before buying to find out how closely the two parts are organised and whether every admission ticket includes the same access.
Date, Venue and Conflicting Sunday Opening Times

The official sources give conflicting opening times for Sunday. The German Walker Con website lists 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eventbrite and the Turbinenhalle calendar state 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Saturday information is consistent at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Until the discrepancy is corrected, visitors should check the Sunday opening time again shortly before the event. Anyone arriving for an early photo shoot or panel should not rely on only one of the current listings.
Rules for Children, Food and Tickets
Children aged five and under enter free when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A regular admission ticket is required from the age of six. According to the organiser, children and young people up to the age of 16 may only enter with a parent, legal guardian or authorised adult.
The event website also states that visitors with severe disabilities and accompanying carers with the German disability marker B each require an admission ticket. It does not provide specific information about accessible routes, seating or supported photo shoots. Individual requirements should therefore be discussed directly with the organiser and venue before purchasing tickets.
The organiser says that food and drinks may not be brought into Turbinenhalle. This is described as a venue rule. The event website does not give further details about the food options available on site.
Is German Walker Con 2026 Worth Visiting?
For Walking Dead fans, the current guest list is the strongest reason to attend. It includes familiar characters from earlier and later seasons and is broader than the initial group used to promote the second edition. The announced film fair hall adds another area for collectors.
The full cost of a visit needs careful consideration. Admission, autographs, photos, selfies and meet and greets are separate expenses. The guest list may change while admission will not be refunded if one individual cancels. Without a published programme schedule, it is also impossible to judge how easily several preferred activities can be combined in a single day.
For scare actors, cosplayers and makeup artists, the convention is more useful as a meeting place and observation space than as formal training. No official workshops or dedicated zombie attraction have been announced. Visitors who keep that distinction in mind will find an unusually focused gathering centred on the television series in Oberhausen.
