4 new horror mazes & scare actors
For 2026, Horror Gate has announced four completely new mazes alongside scare actors and walking acts across the site. One of the first attractions revealed is AREA 52 – Enter at Your Own Risk, located inside the old forge building at ENERGETICON.
AREA 52
AREA 52 is themed as a secret facility involving alien life forms and failed experiments. The old industrial architecture of the forge building becomes part of the experience itself. More maze names are expected to be announced before the event.
Beyond the mazes, the event also includes a horror circus and walking acts throughout the grounds, making Horror Gate more than just a collection of haunted houses.
Halloween at ENERGETICON near Aachen
The location is one of Horror Gate’s biggest selling points. ENERGETICON sits on the grounds of the former Anna II coal mine, and the Halloween event uses exhibition areas, underground passages and the outdoor industrial setting as part of the horror experience.
The full site covers around 30,000 m², with roughly 2,000 m² dedicated to the horror area. For anyone looking for a Halloween event in NRW or western Germany with real industrial and mining scenery, Alsdorf offers a very different atmosphere from a typical theme park.
Is Horror Gate Alsdorf suitable for children?
Families can use a dedicated kids area with child-friendly Halloween activities. Until 7 pm, Horror Gate also runs its lighter scare period, when scare actors tone down their interactions.
KidsDay on October 25
A separate KidsDay takes place on October 25, 2026 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Activities include trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, face painting and other family-focused entertainment. The regular Horror Gate event starts afterwards at 4:00 pm.
Current KidsDay prices are listed at €5 for adults and €8 for children. Check the organiser’s website again before travelling, as prices may change.
Getting to ENERGETICON
Horror Gate takes place at ENERGETICON in 52477 Alsdorf. The EuRegiobahn stop Alsdorf-Busch and the bus stop Anna 2 are both nearby, and Alsdorf is also easy to reach from Aachen.
Who is Horror Gate for?
Horror Gate is a strong fit if you are looking for a Halloween event in Germany or NRW with scare actors, horror mazes and an unusual location. Families are better served before 7 pm or during KidsDay, while visitors coming specifically for the mazes and more intense scares will probably prefer the later evening.

Dear Horror Gate team,
My name is Nickay, founder of Lowland Sliders, a Dutch sliding company focused on bringing this unique scare technique from the American haunt scene to Europe.
We came across Horror Gate and thought sliding could be a really interesting addition to your Halloween event.
Sliding is a scare technique in which performers use specialized gear to move rapidly and very low across the ground, allowing them to create sudden and unexpected scares. It is still relatively unknown in Europe, which makes it especially surprising for guests who have never seen a sliding scare actor before.
We would love to explore the possibility of joining Horror Gate this Halloween as one or two sliding scare actors. We can adapt our performance to the atmosphere and needs of your event and work together with your existing scare actor team.
Safety is very important to us. Sliding requires a suitable, smooth surface, so we would be happy to discuss the locations and areas at Horror Gate beforehand to see what would be suitable.
We are a young company, but we are actively building the sliding scene in the Netherlands and are looking to connect with more haunted attractions and Halloween events across Europe.
If this sounds interesting, we would love to hear what you think and discuss the possibilities, including availability and rates.
We would be happy to send you some videos and more information about sliding and Lowland Sliders as well.
Kind regards,
Nickay
