What started as a privately built Halloween maze is becoming a full-scale event in 2026: Halloween-Point is moving to the festival grounds in Mudenbach, Germany, for three nights of live scare actors, eerie effects and winding corridors. For horror fans – and especially aspiring scare actors – this small independent attraction is worth a closer look.
If you want more from Halloween than pumpkins, costumes and parties, the Westerwald region has an interesting scare attraction waiting in 2026: Halloween-Point in Mudenbach.
On October 24, 30 and 31, the festival grounds in Mudenbach are set to become home to a walk-through horror maze featuring live actors, atmospheric environments, unexpected effects and plenty of encounters in the dark.
The horror version of the attraction is intended for visitors aged 16 and over.
From a Backyard Horror Project to a Halloween Event
What makes Halloween-Point particularly interesting is its history.
Back in 2023, German newspaper Rhein-Zeitung reported on a privately organised horror maze in Mudenbach. Under the name “Camp Westside,” horror fan Angelina Betz and a group of friends transformed the garden of her parents’ home into their own walk-through horror experience.
Using MDF panels, plastic sheeting and other materials, they created corridors and scenes designed to scare visitors rather than simply decorate a house for Halloween.
And it did not remain a one-off experiment.
In 2024, German broadcaster SWR included the horror maze among its Halloween recommendations for the Koblenz region and described it as the second edition of the attraction. Amateur performers were already being used to scare guests throughout Camp Westside.
Earlier sessions offered a milder experience, while later in the evening the maze became more intense and was restricted to visitors aged 16 and over.
Halloween-Point’s official social media presence now describes the project as a horror maze in the Westerwald district and traces its beginnings back to 2022.
In 2026, the project appears to be taking its biggest step yet: moving away from a private property and onto the Festplatz Mudenbach.
What Can Visitors Expect in 2026?
Halloween-Point is still keeping many details under wraps.
What has been confirmed is a walk-through horror maze with live performers, atmospheric themed areas, unexpected encounters and effects designed to make navigating the maze increasingly uncomfortable.
Exactly how large the attraction will be, how many scare actors will take part and what individual characters or scenes await visitors has not yet been revealed.
And in a way, that might be a good thing.
A horror maze works best when you do not know exactly what is waiting around the next corner.
Why Halloween-Point Is Interesting for Scare Actor Fans
Large Halloween events often impress visitors with elaborate scenery, animatronics and enormous production budgets.
Smaller independent haunted attractions have to rely much more heavily on one of the most important elements of any successful scare:
Timing.
A scare actor needs to know when to become visible – and when to disappear.
They need to understand where a group is looking, when a sound alone is enough to build tension and when movement is needed to deliver the actual scare.
The best scares rarely come from somebody simply jumping out of a corner and screaming.
Narrow mazes are particularly useful environments for this type of performance.
Sightlines can be deliberately blocked. Lighting or sound can draw visitors toward one side of a corridor while the actual scare comes from somewhere else. Actors can disappear, reappear or quietly follow a group before making themselves known.
That is why smaller independent horror attractions can be especially interesting for aspiring scare actors.
Instead of simply asking whether something frightened you, pay attention to why the moment worked.
Was it the character?
The actor’s posture?
The makeup?
The distance between performer and visitor?
Or simply two seconds of perfect timing?
Those same techniques can later be applied to your own scare acting.

Halloween-Point currently lists three horror maze dates for 2026:

There Is Also a Halloween Day for Children
Halloween-Point is not focusing exclusively on its more intense horror experience.
A separate family event is scheduled for October 25, 2026, featuring a children’s Halloween maze and pumpkin carving.
Tickets for the children’s event are sold separately.
This allows Halloween-Point to keep its family-friendly Halloween activities clearly separated from the more intense horror maze aimed at older visitors.
How Intense Will Halloween-Point 2026 Be?
At the moment, that is difficult to judge.
The age recommendation and the description of the maze as an immersive horror experience suggest that Halloween-Point is designed to be more than a harmless spooky walkthrough.
However, there is currently no detailed information about physical contact from actors, strobe lighting, heavy fog effects or particularly intense scenes.
Anyone sensitive to specific effects or with accessibility concerns should therefore check the latest entry and safety information before purchasing a ticket.
A Small Horror Maze with an Interesting Story
Halloween-Point will probably not compete with the enormous Halloween productions found at major theme parks.
But that is precisely what makes the project interesting.
Within only a few years, a privately built horror maze has developed into an independent Halloween attraction offering several nights at a public event venue.
For horror fans in the Westerwald and northern Rhineland-Palatinate, Halloween-Point could therefore be an interesting alternative to Germany’s larger and better-known Halloween events.
And scare actors may want to pay attention to something beyond whether the maze succeeds in frightening them.
Watch how the performers do it.
Because a great scare does not always need a million-euro set.
Sometimes all you need is a dark corridor, a convincing character – and exactly two seconds of perfect timing.
