What is “Bella and the Monster” about?
“Bella and the Monster” starts as a dark reimagining of the familiar fairy tale. The mysterious sorceress Karma guides the story and reveals the monster’s past. Bella eventually accepts an invitation to its legendary masquerade ball – a Halloween night full of eccentric characters, intrigue, dancing and dark humor.
The story then shifts into a murder mystery: the monster has to expose a killer before Karma writes the final chapter. The result mixes musical theatre, mystery and crime story elements.
How much Halloween is in the musical?
The premiere taking place on October 31 is no coincidence. The masquerade ball, monster characters, dark magic and murder mystery are built around Halloween, with dance numbers and familiar pop and rock songs adding to the stage-show format.
Important for horror fans: scare actors and a walk-through horror maze are not currently announced. This is a staged theatre production rather than a haunted attraction. If you specifically want live scare actors, Halloween Deluxe Erfurt is another option on the same night.
